The skeleton of Reata, the "house" used in the James Dean/Rock Hudson/Elizabeth Taylor film "Giant,"  in 1968.  This is what was left 13 years after the film was made.

Beauty is only skin deep but Texas is to the bone.

I took this photo of the "Giant"  art installation in December, 2018.   It was created by muralist John Cerney and is located on Highway 90 just west of Marfa,  at the site where Giant was filmed in 1955.  The art shows James Dean's character, Jett Rink, as well as the Reata mansion, Rock Hudson as Bick Benedict in his yellow car,  and other pieces from the movie.  Cerney, whose art can be seen along highways from California to Alabama,  was commissioned by the Briscoe Western Art Museum.  I found the installation to be visually interesting and certainly worthy of a stop.  Sadly, virtually no traces of the set are visible anymore.
