The Graf Zeppelin over El Paso, 1929. The Graf Zeppelin was a German passenger-carrying, hydrogen-filled rigid airship which flew from 1928 to 1937. It made 590 flights totaling more than 1 million miles, was operated by a crew of 36, and carried 24 passengers. The airship was 776 feet long, 100 feet wide, and 110 feet tall. It was withdrawn from service after the Hindenburg disaster in 1937 and scrapped for military aircraft production in 1940. I'll bet it was quite a sight as it passed over El Paso in 1929!

Beauty is only skin deep but Texas is to the bone.
