Cowboys on a porch, 1908

Two cowboys playing dominoes at the JA Ranch near Amarillo, 1908. This was taken by celebrated cowboy photographer Erwin E. Smith and is so clear that it looks like it could have been shot yesterday. I love everything about it, from the clothing to the dog to the rowels on the spurs to the cognac on the table.  This stellar image is  is in the collection of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, where you can find the rest of Smith's work.  You can find out more about the museum here:
